Ukraine Initiates Large-Scale Manufacturing of New Interceptor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new locally engineered defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Conditions

The drones utilize a nationally created system called “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and proved successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” after six people were killed and many others injured in a series of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in the capital just after 12 AM this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon detected overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the country was targeted by 430 drones and 18 missiles. Those killed had been at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection Following Embassy Damage

Azerbaijan said it delivered a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the embassy damage. An explosion from a Russian Iskander missile destroyed a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused serious damage to the embassy grounds, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. There were no personnel was hurt, and an official representative confirmed the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.

Russian Glide Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Major Expansion

Moscow intends to manufacture as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, including 500 of a new, longer-range version that can reach more towns and cities. Russian forces have been launching hundreds of glide bombs per day, with the previous month's daily average standing at approximately 170, according to defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately targeted a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

International Sanctions Impact Moscow's Energy Company

The number two oil producer Lukoil said on Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers concerning its international holdings following recent restrictions from Western nations and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced once conclusive negotiations are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to confer with lawmakers a day after his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from both chambers of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
