'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and his teammate promptly slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 deep into the second half. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result earned a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after they changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at League Two Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they featured on an plastic turf and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he comments, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
