Citizens have gathered across the country to commemorate 24 months since the Hamas-initiated attack on 7 October 2023, as talks advanced in Egypt over a conclusion to the conflict in Gaza.
The attack resulted in more than 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken away to Gaza as captives. It was the most deadliest day for the Jewish community since the Holocaust.
Israel reacted by initiating a armed campaign in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, as reported by the area's Hamas-run health ministry. Its figures are regarded as accurate by the United Nations and other global organizations.
"Our bloodthirsty enemies have hit us hard, but they have not broken us," the leader added on that day.
He also promised to "realize all the goals of the war: the release of all the captured, the elimination of the Hamas administration and the guarantee that Gaza will no longer create a risk to Israel".
The national leadership rescheduled official commemorations until 16 October - after the end of the festive season - but gatherings still took place around the country on Tuesday.
A remembrance service for the relatives of Israelis who died in the Hamas incident was held in Tel Aviv. Organized by the victims' relatives, it was broadcast on Israeli TV networks.
Some time earlier, a minute's silence was respected throughout the country.
At the same time, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams met in the North African coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a continuing round of third-party negotiations to discuss the conditions of the agreement.
A prominent Palestinian official involved in the negotiations said that an evening round of indirect talks commenced at 7 PM local time.
The official said the earlier meeting finished without significant progress, amid disagreements over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to make certain Israel does not restart fighting after the opening period of the agreement.
He noted that the negotiations are "challenging and have still not produce any significant progress," but mentioned that intermediaries are working hard to narrow the gaps between the both parties.
In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square that day, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member endured the incident on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were murdered and many more were captured by Hamas fighters - shared: "No place appears as home anymore and until all the hostages return none of us will feel safe."
"When we see everyone home once more, we can breathe anew. Then we can begin to recover," she continued.
In front of the leader's home in the capital, people congregated to demonstrate their support for the families of the abducted. Israel reports 48 remain in confinement in Gaza, 20 of whom are believed to be living.
Activist Atalia Regev remarked: "We must do whatever arrangement needed for the captives to return. But we really want promises that we will be secure."
Research now regularly indicate that approximately seventy percent of the population want the conflict to conclude in return for the release of the hostages.
At the site of the music event, those paying respects came together to pay their respects.
From that location, the sound of military attacks and explosions could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people reported the intense Israeli bombardment continued.
In Gaza City, attacks were documented in the early hours of Tuesday in the western neighborhood, Rimal and locality districts and in the east side district of that sector, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwestern area.
"Once the night arrives, the fear comes with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack previously, shared.
"We are terrified of the bombings. Throughout the evening we are lying together, clinging, especially my smallest child who puts his head on me the entire evening."
"Constantly we look at the reports to see the situation. And I'm afraid that this truce will not be completed and that the fighting will resume to us."
The medical facility in the urban area announced it had received the corpses of half dozen people by the midday, including several killed in an Israeli attack in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.
A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of that area reported two more dead people had been brought there. One of them was died by Israeli forces while attempting to get aid to the south, health workers stated.
