Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position after a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with results this poor.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
