Adult Swim's Top New Show of 2025 Gets a Substantial Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the channel introduced a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns was gentle and comforting, evoking a animated take of a contemplative talk show. On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about observing this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its prevailing layer of irony. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”
