Democratic lawmakers have made public a additional set of what they termed "troubling" pictures from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 images—a portion of which have been previously circulated—combined with another 70 issued later on Friday account for a small number of the approximately 100,000 images released to the House investigative panel, which is examining the conduct and connections of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of apparent suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking offenses.
Featured among the high-profile individuals visible in the initial batch are public figures including movie maker Woody Allen; Microsoft creator Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, originator of the Virgin conglomerate.
Donald Trump is featured in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is photographed with six women, whose faces are obscured.
The White House addressed the release in a official comment, accusing Democrats of selectively "cherry-picking" the photographs for political purposes and to "seek to establish a false account."
"This Democratic fabrication against President Trump has been time and again refuted," a presidential representative said, maintaining that "this presidency has done more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats have at any point by repeatedly calling for disclosure, releasing reams of records, and calling for more inquiries into Epstein's Democratic associates."
The images were released devoid of explanation, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the investigative panel, they elicit additional doubts about Epstein's links with affluent people.
"It is time to halt this White House obfuscation and bring justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he said in a comment.
The disclosure of these images coincides with the oversight committee pressing on with its probe into the affair.
